MONASEED BADMINTON CLUB
The Monaseed Community Group has revived the Badminton Club after a lapse of
several years. The Club is currently using the Miles Byrne Community Hall. The enthusiasm of the members has grown tremendously and training sessions were packed out all season. Inter-County competitions were entered and there were 4 medal winners in the group. Peter Wadding, Chairman, and his committee are justly proud of this achievement in their first season. The problem of height in their present venue, will be resolved when the new Monaseed Community Sports & Culture Centre is built.

MONASEED YOUTH CLUB
The revival of the Monaseed Badminton Club has had a dramatic spin off in the formation of the Monaseed Youth Group led by Caroline Morrissey. The popularity of the group has increased as it continues to attract all ages between 5 to 18. Apart from the games played in the hall, and inter-club competitions, the members also had two very successful workshops. The first consisted of drum sessions, which ended with an enjoyable musical recital for their parents. The second was a woodwork workshop, which produced some fabulous items, including CD holders, picture frames, lamps and bird boxes.

The group also planted flowers and hung flower-baskets at the Miles Byrne Community Hall to enhance the appearance of their village. At Halloween, they ran a Broom Race and Party, to raise money for charity. This produced €1000, which they donated to Tuberous Sclerosis research, inspired by the needs of a young person suffering from this rare disease.
